Busta Rhymes Signs with Cash Money Records

November 21st, 2011 | By

The rumors have been confirmed by Busta Rhymes himself. He has indeed signed with Cash Money Records. The vet rapper made the confirmation while on the Funk Master Flex radio show. Busta has been pretty busy lately – he was on Chris Brown’s latest album and has won multiple awards for it. If you look into his musical history, you’ll notice that he has a knack for associating himself with the winning teams. The same goes for his newest decision to get down with Cash Money Records.

Just look at their track record and you’ll see why he made this choice. They have a lot of big names under their belt right now like Nicki Minaj and Drake. Some people may not like the idea of Busta Rhymes signing a contract with CSR, but there are a few good reasons to why it is definitely a good decision.

Busta Rhymes and Bird Man

For one, hooking up with Cash Money will get him full access to some of the top names in the industry, including Lil’ Wayne, Nicki and Baby, among others. How many vet rappers can you say are still in the limelight today? Other than Jigga Man of course. With CSR, Busta will be able to stay in the spotlight for as long as he can put forth tight work. He’s been doing great so far, so we’ll see if he can do even better under their record label.

Let’s face it, if you want to make big money, you have to target the youth. And the youth today aren’t into lyricism like the last generation of hip hoppers, so Busta should do farely well financially under Cash Money Records.

A Beef Sparking Between Jay-Z and Weezy?

October 8th, 2011 | By

A small spark of beef has been crackling away between Jay-Z and Lil’ Wayne, but the two rappers are downplaying it. Jay-Z says that it is the sport of rap music. It all began with Jay-Z making a comment in his track about Baby Money:

“I’m like, ‘Really, half-a-billi?’ N***a, really, you got Baby money/ Keep it real with n****s, n****s ain’t got my lady money.”

Weezy struck back in his song “It’s Good” where he says:

“Talkin’ bout Baby money? I got your baby money/ Kidnap your b***h, get that how-much-you-love-your-lady money.”

During his Shawn Carter Foundations’ Making the Ordinary Extraordinary fundraiser, Jay-Z told MTV:

“That’s sport, that’s Rap music. Nothing is going to change but the participants. I don’t even see why that’s news.”

Then in an interview with Lil’ Wayne, he talks of being an innovator.

“We was reminiscing on the life of Steve Jobs,” began Wayne. “An..innovator of many things. A very influential man. Most of our lives…I don’t know a person that hasn’t been influenced in some sort of way by this man. We lost that man…I think a lot too soon. Obviously too soon because I’m quite sure that there’s a bunch of people who don’t know who I’m talking about. And that’s when you’ve lost someone too soon.”

Birdman Cashin’ in on Oil

February 15th, 2010 | By

Birdman, Bryan Williams and his brother Slim, Ronald Williams, are best known as being the fathers of Cash Money Records. Back in the early 1990s, the Williams brothers started the record label out of their New Orleans projects and since then they have been taking the music industry by storm. Altogether, the Hot Boys have gone multiplatinum and gold, selling over 45 million albums. Some of the hip hop artists associated with the record label has included Lil Wayne, BG, Juvenile and Baby, aka Birdman. With such great success in the music industry, it only makes since for Birdman to move on to bigger things. Well, word has it that he and his brother founded a new exploration and development oil company called Bronald Oil & Gas LLC.

Birdman

The oil venture company has properties in Louisiana, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma and South America. Bronald Oil & Gas has yet to gain any investors or staff, since it is still in its beginning stages. Although, they do hope to partner up with other developers to “jointly exploit significant additional assets by leveraging Bronald’s infrastructure.” It seems that Birdman is so into his oil company that he got a tattoo of an oil well on his head.

“I want to make this a full-fledged entertainment and music company for all genres of music, from pop and rock to country and gospel,” says Slim. “I also want to make the film company just as big, if not bigger, than the record label. I want it all — music, publishing, film, videogames, DVD.” Hopefully the oil investment won’t be a big regret like with his prior investment in R. Kelly.
