August 4th, 2011 | By

Rumors are spreading like the wildfire that is supposedly rekindling between Rihanna and her ex-beau / first love Negus Sealy. You may remember the two of them “hangin’ out” back when she and Chris Brown broke up after the 2009 incident. Sources also reveal that the two have been hookin’ up hear and there every time she visits her home Barbados.

While the 23-year-old singer was performing in Barbados for the Carnival, called Kadooment Day Parade that took place earlier this week. She was spotted dancing up close and personal with Negus, and sources say that the two have been pretty much inseparable her entire visit. The two have also been seen together at Rihanna’s estate.

“Negus has hardly left her side. He was her first true love. The ladies here all love him – they call him the Love God. They’ve hooked up in the past when she’s been back in Barbados but now things have progressed into a proper relationship again.”

Rihanna and Negus used to date back when she was a teen looking to make it big. The two split up after she left to the States to jumpstart her musical career. Then tabloids reported that she was on the rebound with Negus after the breakup between her and Chris Brown.

No one from Rihanna’s party have commented on these recent reports, so these are in fact still rumors. But pictures don’t lie!

Rihanna’s “Man Down” Video Controversy and Success

June 14th, 2011 | By

Rihanna’s new video “Man Down” is all the buzz — a lot of people are hatin’ on it because of the ordeal between her and Chris Brown, where she heavily denounced domestic abuse, and others enjoy the catchy reggae sound. If you aren’t one of the millions of YouTube viewers of the video, it shows shooting a man who raped her. Parents Television Council, also known as PTC, drew up controversy about her video. This is a watchdog group that keeps an eye on the things children and teens are watching on television. They argued that this video could promote rape victims to act violently towards the offender, instead of seeking help from authorities.

Rihanna, who was first reluctant of using Twitter, tweeted throughout the day on June 11th, thanking PTC for making her YouTube video a big success. It received over 20 million views.

“I bring the clip to u, and u take over from there! And I love that u love them! And I love u guys even more… there’s video/movie/TV world and there’s real life!” For those who understand the message behind the clip, she stated, “I’m just impressed that u kids know the difference! Keep it up to every girl/boy empowered by this….u are the real winners here!” Rihanna tweeted.

Even with all of the controversy and complaints from PTC, Rihanna’s fans understood the video’s underlying message. Rihanna also tweeted:

“In making that into a mini-movie or a video, we needed to go back to why it happened, because obviously she’s not a cold-blooded killer…and we decided to hone in on a very serious matter that people are afraid to address.”

Rihanna and Chris Brown, Restraining Order Lifted

April 3rd, 2011 | By

After two years of Rihanna living with a 100 feet restraining order against ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, the top selling artist is finally relaxing it in order for Chris Brown’s career not to suffer. Rihanna wanted Chris Brown to allow his career to progress without any hindrance. One of the issues that occurred with the restraining order is that Chris Brown could not perform in awards shows, slowing down his career progress, something which Rihanna doesn’t want.

Now comfortable with talking about the assault in 2009, she went for a tough image to hide her emotional scars. But now, the star is taking things by the helm and will launch a tour, Loud, to support her album. With her latest single, What’s My Name?, continue to soar the charts as her voice continues to be one of the strongest there is in the music industry.

Rihanna respects Chris Browns’ career, and wishes to put the past behind her, especially as she continues to progress her own. She didn’t want to hamper Chris Browns’ professional career, and she aims to attain closure between them as they go their separate ways.

Rihanna is truly stronger now, facing the issues she was so ashamed of in 2009. In fact, with a more positive resolve, the top selling singer continues to wow the crowds with her unique style and dynamic singing, which accounts for the style she embraces now: freer and more confident.

Chris Brown Accepts Plea Deal

June 25th, 2009 | By

Finally, this all has ended. On June 22nd, Chris Brown and Rihanna were expected in court — of course not at the same time. The judge ordered that Chris Brown and Rihanna can’t be near each other for five years. So Chris was to appear in court first and once he left, Rihanna was to do her part in testifying. Being that Chris showed up early for his appearance, everyone speculated there was going to be an attempt for a plea bargain to avoid jail time. This was the case and Rihanna didn’t have to testify at all.

APTOPIX People Chris Brown

So what’s the deal? Well, this may be harsher than jail time (sarcasm) — Chris Brown has received five years of supervised probation, six months of community service in his native state Virginia, plus the five years he has to stay away from Rihanna (this restraining order goes both ways). It’s funny how they say Brown accepted the plea bargain to show the world that domestic violence won’t be tolerated, but on the contrary, the associations that are involved with female abuse weren’t too happy about those terms (maybe some jail time would’ve sufficed). Chris will have to have to pick up trash and clean up graffiti around his home state of Virginia. This whole dilemma has already taken effect on his hip hop career, including canceling concerts and a performance at the Grammys.

Being that the charges were filed in California, Chris Brown will still have to make appearances every three months on the west coast. It looks like Brown made the right choice with the plea bargain because he was facing up to five years in prison if convicted. His sentencing begins on August 5th, 2009.

Rihanna Subpoened for In-person Court Appearance

June 12th, 2009 | By

On June 22nd, Rihanna will have to appear in court to testify against her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown. She was given a subpoena that requires her to come in person for the court date. As we all already know, the 21 year old R&B singer got into a “quarrel” (if that’s what you want to call it) with Chris Brown, her then boyfriend. Chris released a video on youtube on May 26th, telling haters to back off. He then thanked his “true” fans and said that he wasn’t a monster.

Rihanna

Not sure about everyone else, but I can’t wait until all of this is over. I wonder what will happen to Chris Brown if/when he is found guilty. I know that the U.S. isn’t too lenient in domestic abuse cases, so we’ll have to see how that turns out. Then plus, he plead not guilty, so that will make it worse on his part if/when found guilty. Maybe he’ll be like the other celebrities who jut get a slap on the wrist — sorry for Michael Vick who seemed to be used as a “lesson” to teach the rich folk that they can’t get away with everything.

Well, I’ll definitely keep posts up on the Rihanna and Chirs Brown case. On my opinion, with all the evidence and photos that were taken, I don’t think he’ll walk away clean. If it’s not jail time, it’ll most definitely be fines and community service.
