Memorial Day Mixtape to be released by Da Brat and Jermaine Dupri

May 16th, 2011 | By

Da Brat is making a comeback, after years in prison, together with Jermaine Dupri, to produce a mixtape for this upcoming Memorial Day, entitled as “Livin’ the Life.” The mixtape will include the remix of many top songs in the industry, with the Da Brat flavor.

It seems like that duo is back in business, with Da Brat working with her longtime mentor and music partner, Dupri. The music industry indeed welcomes back the hip hop artist with great enthusiasm, especially for her music to hit the industry very soon.

In fact, the So So Def camp showed that these two had been working together, and for something big too! The Brat mixtape is to be released in May, as announced on the video blog. This really proves that the hip hop artist is making her comeback with a blast!

The recent video blog shows that while Dupri is coming up with a beat, Da Brat focuses on her notepad. The conversation in the video marks the announcement of her mixtape’s release date, which is to occur on the weekend of Memorial Day.

Other than this, you can check out Twitter for updates on this collaboration by Dupri as he mentions how he is excited for the release of the mixtape later this May.

Da Brat is serious once again with her music, and nothing will stop her now. Check out her comeback this Memorial Day with a tune to remember, as Da Brat is now back with So So Def!

Da Brat Out on Work Release

Word has it that Da Brat is out of prison on work release. She was sentenced to three years in jail after having a brutal altercation with an aspiring model/Atlanta cheerleader named Shayla Stevens. The female rapper hit Shayla in the face with a bottle of rum, causing lacerations and nerve damage (ouch!).

This took place back in November of 2007 and now she is supposedly out on work release. She was on Jermaine Dupri’s Living the Life blog, saying that she was out on a pass and visiting her lawyer. The work release program she is on involves her making windows daily from 9 to 5.

“I’m out on a little pass,” Brat said before thanking fans for all their support while she was in lock-up. “I got a job. I work 9 [a.m.] to 5 [p.m.] because I’m in the work release program. I make windows, so if you need a window, holler at your girl.”

“I’m doing my thing, when I come out I’ma be making windows, music, movies, TV shows, anything I can get my hands on,” Da Brat said. “It’s too much grass done grew up while I aint do nothing all this time and it got on my nerves. I’m fittin to come out and run..fast.”

Da Brat, born as Shawntae Harris, didn’t release any details about her upcoming music work, but I’m sure we’ll hear something about it soon.
