Raekwon the Chef Drops New Movie; 50 Cent a Photographer?

September 24th, 2011 | By

It seems as though 50 Cent isn’t the only one who’s looking to feature in films. Raekwon the Chef from Wu-Tang will be dropping a flick that will have the same feel as “Boyz N The Hood”. It’s called “Cream” and will have be a semi-autobiographical movie. You can take a look at the video below to see Raekwon discussing his new movie.

Well, it seems as though 50 Cent is never satisfied with being in just one industry. He came out as a rapper, turned over to an actor/model and then entered into the vitamin water health industry. But he’s not finished trying new things. His latest project is photography. Last week, the rapper/actor/photographer hosted a private event in Manhattan for SMOOTH Magazine’s 10th anniversary. It has a “warrior princess” theme and he had 14 models that were shot over a four-day period (10-12 hour shifts) by Mr. Fifty himself. Some of the models included Krista Aynes, a couple of video vixens, Jennifer Williams (Basketball Wives) and a few women from the upcoming season of “Bad Girls Club”.

The celebrity list for the party included Tony Yayo, Omarion, Maino, Red Café and French Montana. You can check out the video below regarding his views on taking on photography as a new “thing”.

Rapper Prodigy Releases: Prison and New Book

December 27th, 2010 | By

Rapper Prodigy from Mobb Deep is serving a three-year prison sentence and is scheduled to be released in the early part of 2011 (reportedly February. He was arrested a few years back for gun possession.Back in October 2006, he was driving with a loaded .22 handgun in his bulletproof SUV — producer Alchemist was with him. Prodigy was one of the first to be arrested for the new strict anti-gun laws in New York. Other than getting released from prison, there is more good news for Prodigy — he has signed a book deal to write an autobiography, which is also scheduled to be released in early 2011 — presumably April.

You may remember Prodigy as being a multi-platinum hip hop artist. Now, let’s see if he can become a renowned book author as well. The book will be called My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy. The book will talk about himself as a superstar rapper alongside Havoc and his different altercations he’s faced throughout his career and while behind bars. The book is written by Prodigy and Laura Checkoway, and will be published by Simon and Schuster. The book will be released on April 19, 2011.

Do you guys think you’ll cop a copy of this book? Should be interesting what he has to say, but not sure if it will become a bestseller though.

NYC Unites at ThisIs50 Music Fest

October 5th, 2009 | By

This past Saturday, 50 Cent held his first ThisIs50 music festival, which was held on Governors Island (an old military base on the New York Harbor that’s being transformed into a public park). Along with G-Unit, other artists like D-Block, Red Cafe, Cory Gunz, the Diplomats and Maino performed. Fans at the premiere festival also saw an introduction of the newcomer Trav. Fifty Cent stated that the festival wasn’t for artists who necessarily had a single out because that would’ve been like a marketing spiff. And that wouldn’t have been a good representation for hip hop, which is what the whole festival was about.

Opening the show was Wale and Kid Cudi, who performed songs from their young careers, like “Chillin” and “Day N Nite”. Next, Papoose, Slaughterhouse, Cory Gunz and Trav entered the stage. Then Diplomats (performing “Gangsta Music” and “Hey Ma”), D-Block and G-Unit closed the show. The event brought together fans from all over New York. It was a great mix of artists (Jadakiss, Jimmy Jones, Juelz Santana); and a lot of people think that such artists can’t get together, but truth is, they all know they can make more money together than they can apart.

50 Cent performed his popular hit “I get Money”, along with others like “Baby by me” (his new single). When Fifty wasn’t getting the reaction he wanted from the crowd, he instructed DJ Whoo Kid to turn off the music. He then asked the crowd who they came to see; and then said that he was gonna take the crowd back because he knew they didn’t wanna “hear the lovey dovey sh–”, as he said. When the beat came back on, it was “What Up Gangsta”.

The show turned out to be so much of a success that he is planning to take it on the road.
