Diddy’s Reaction to Machine Gun Kelly’s Arrest

January 30th, 2012 | By

Diddy took Machine Gun Kelly’s Arrest well despite the original tweet that sounded nervous and uncomfortable with the situation.

Upon hearing of the misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge the rapper Kelly was arrested for, Diddy prompted to reach him out through Twitter when he said “@machinegunkelly WtF!!!!!! Call me at miami crib now!!!!! Everyone hit him and tell him to call me NOW!!!!! Pls thanks!!!!”

Rapper Kelly addressed the response and told MTV that “You can tell he’s, like, playful with it, but there’s a serious tone behind. I talked to Puff today, and he’s like, ‘It’s all good. Do what you do. You did what you had to do.’”

The situation nearly got out of hand when Diddy was misinformed of a second arrest. The alleged arrest involved Kells, MGK’s associate, was driving while drunk, eventually crashing the car.

Rapper Kelly defended himself and said that, “He thought I was in the car too, so he thought I got arrested twice. It was like the first arrest was cool, like, all right, he’ll let it slide. But when he [thought it was two arrests], he was like, ‘What the f—? You got arrested two times? Something is wrong with you, man.’ He was, like, spazzing out. I think all the label is on edge about how we rock.”

MGK is known for his rapid rapping. He is also popularly known to create three mixtapes entitled “100 Words and Running”, “Lace Up”, and “Rage Pack.” Recently, the rapper was known as the “Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2011″ by MTV.

Diddy Accused of Conspiring with B.I.G.’s Murder

October 8th, 2011 | By

It seems that trouble keeps finding Sean Diddy Combs. On the lower level, he got into with someone at a club about “not drinking Ciroc vodka”…okay… It got so serious that T.I. had to calm down the rapper/CEO. TIP got on the radio and explained how the story was blown out of porportion. On a more serious note, the Bad Boy CEO is being accused of being behind the murder of Biggie Smalls – to the point of being the man that hired that gunman to kill him.

These speculations are being thrown into the air by ex-LAPD detective Greg Kading, who was on the BI.G. Murder investigation. He wrote a book called “Murder Rap”, where it talks about the assassinations of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.

“What ended up happening during our investigation of [Notorious B.I.G’s] homicide – we were taking a very broad approach to it, we were gonna try to address all the different theories: whether it was Puffy Combs, whether it was the Southside Crips, whether it was the Nation Of Islam, whether it was the Bloods as retaliation [for Tupac’s murder]. We were looking at it from every different angle. … We’re thinking, Okay, maybe it was Puff behind Biggie’s murder, and if so it could’ve been the Southside Crips. There was this rumor going around that it was them because they never got paid for the [Tupac] murder. So there were all these theories going around,” said Greg Kading.

He went on to talk about how he was taken off the case and the two murders were phased out over time.

“I think things would of changed and worked out drastically different had the L.A.P.D. not taken its lead investigator off the case, who had accomplished all of this. I’m not trying to pat myself on the back; I’m just being very practical about this. I was assigned to the case, and I got something accomplished that nobody had ever gotten accomplished and that was to get the people that participated in these murders to confess. And then right when you’re positioned to take those confessions and exploit them to get the other conspirators, you’re taken off the task force and then both of the cases just die in their tracks and nothing else is done.”

Rapper Mos Def Changes Name to Yasiin

September 12th, 2011 | By

Guess which rap artist is planning to change their name..and no, it’s not Puff Daddy (or P. Diddy, pr whatever his name is these days). If you guessed Mos Def, then you’re right. But he isn’t going back to his government name, Dante Smith. Instead, he will go by the name Yasiin, likely to give tribute to Islam. Yasiin is the 36th Sura in the Qur’an. Some may think he’s doing it for publicity (like Sean Puffy Combs) and others believe that he’s trying to grow himself as a person and rapper.

“Mos Def is a name that I built and cultivated over the years, it’s a name that the streets taught me, a figure of speech that was given to me by the culture and by my environment, and I feel I’ve done quite a bit with that name,” Def said. “It’s time to expand and move on.”

Mos Def

Mos Def…I mean Yasiin converted to Islam back when he was a teenager, so he says: “[I don’t want to have] any moniker or separation between the self that I see and know myself as.”
He went on to say that he wouldn’t get offended if someone mistakenly calls him Mos Def due to old habits.

Other hip hop artists that have changed their name include Cat Stevens, who changes his name to Yusuf Islam back in the ‘70s. Now, he performs as Yusuf. Bow Wow and Romeo both dropped the Lil’ off of their names as a sign to show that they’re not little anymore.

What do you think about Mos Def’s name change?

Swizz Beatz Talks of DMX’s Legal Woes, P. Diddy Getting Sued for Shooting in ATL

July 19th, 2011 | By

Lately, rapper DMX has been in and out of legal trouble, but that doesn’t stop Swizz Beatz from wanting to work with him. Right now, Dark Man X is behind bars, serving a seven month sentence that will end early next week. He is in the Arizona State Prison. When asked about what he thought about X’s legal woes, Swizz said:

“I’ll always work with DMX; that’s my brother no matter what,” Swizz Beatz told AllHipHop.com. “X was a winner already. Now it’s just a matter of getting that title back. Bottom line is, he’s a winner. It’s just on when he wants to win again; it’s all up to him.”

He even goes on to say that if it wasn’t for DMX, folks probably wouldn’t even know who he was.

Another artist facing legal troubles is P. Diddy, who is being sued by Tony Austin (an executive that used to work with Def Jam, but is now co-president of the Russell Simmons music). Tony and a friend, Lawrence Jackson, were outside of Justin’s Restaurant and Bar when someone shot at their vehicle, inflicting several gunshot wounds in both. He is suing P. Diddy and Justin’s for failing to maintain a secure environment. Tony was invited by P. Diddy as a guest to the Atlanta restaurant for an event.

Austin and Lawrence were treated at the Piedmont hospital for multiple gunshot wounds. The lawsuit was filed on July 15th.
