Nelly to Perform at the Grand Opening of Palace Theater

July 5th, 2010 | By

We all know Nelly as being the rapper from the Mid-West, dropping hot tracks like “EI”, “Country Grammar” and “Hot in Here”. He has become one of the nation’s top rappers and that’s exactly why the Palace Theater in Branson has decided to use him for their grand opening. It is said that he will be performing there on August 21 (tickets will begin selling on July 12th). We haven’t heard a lot from him lately, but he is set to release an album this Fall.

“It’s important to Branson to get a spark. In the economic situation the world is in right now, people will pay for great entertainment,” said theater manager Paul Dunn.

What’s funny is Branson strip is a town that is used to having country, gospel and blue-grass concerts. So having a hip hop concert should be a bit interesting. Not sure how many of its town’s residents will show up, but there may be some out-of-towners who may swing by just to see Nelly.

“The shows are getting a little monotonous. They each have a comedian, they sing, they have female singers, they bring their kids on. It’s entertaining, but when each show is exactly alike, you need a little variety,” said Kimble.

“We are going to modernize our entertainment here. Branson has the best shows, but we are going to bring entertainers that are hot now, everywhere, even worldwide,” said Dunn.

St. Lunatics to Make a Comeback with Birdman

April 26th, 2010 | By

It’s been over a decade since an album has been released for the once super-famous rap group, St. Lunatics. The St. Louis group is putting together a new album that will be released soon. It will feature the usual hip hop members, Ali, Nelly, Kyjuan, Murphy Lee and an addition, Nelly’s brother City Spud. You may know of him because his lyrics and voice was on Nelly’s “Ride Wit Me” single. Back in 1999 right before the release of his brother’s album “Country Grammar”, City Spud was locked up for ten years with assault charges. He was released in 2008.

“Of course, everybody knows that I’ve been on vacation for a while and now I’m back,” City Spud told the St. Louis American.

The group got together earlier last week to put together a video for “Money Talks”, their first one for their upcoming album. It was shot at Visiontracks Studio in Fenton, Missouri.

“He wasn’t able to be a part of Country Grammar or any other Lunatic album that had been done up to this point,” Nelly told KMOV-TV. “It’s exciting for us to watch him because this is his first time really going through the whole process of putting out an album and everything that comes along with it.”

As mentioned, Birdman will be making an appearance with the group. He is featured on “Money Talks”. The video was filmed by the director named Juwan Lee. The new album doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will be called “City Free”, so keep an eye out for it.
