Lil Wayne Getting Sued Over “Bedrock” Single
August 2nd, 2011 | By
Remember the popular song “Bedrock” by Lil’ Wayne? Well, it looks as though he will be getting sued for….for $15 million large ones. The single was a big hit, hitting number 1 on the billboards back in December 2009 and selling 3 million copies. It was on Lil Wayne’s compilation album that was released in 2010, “We Are Young Money” (which is certified gold, selling 500,000 copies). The song featured other artists, including Nicki Minaj, Drake. Tyga, Gudda Gudda, Lloyd and Jae Millz.
The lawsuit was filed on August 1st by Done Deal Enterprises, a production company located in Waynesboro, Georgia. They are claiming that Lil’ Wayne stole their copyrighted song “Bedrock”, and used it for a track with the same name. The beat was originally produced by Kane Beatz. The lawsuit is against Lil’ Wayne, Universal Music Group, Cash Money Records and Young Money Records. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court , Southern district of New York.
They are scheduled to appear in court on October 12, 2011. None of Lil’ Wayne’s lawyers or representatives have made any return comments regarding this matter. This is yet another legal woe for the rapper, Dwayne Carter Jr., who was also sued by a couple of producers for unpaid royalties.
Shame, shame, shame. It looks like Lil’ Wayne doesn’t like to pay for the work that he uses. This isn’t going to look good on his resume. Who would want to work with a multi-millionaire who doesn’t like to share the wealth, even when its well-deserved? Pay your contractors!
