Regardless of what he’s endured in his lifetime, Cas puts it all into his music. With that comes relentless bars, punchlines, and storytelling in a bold and aggressive manner that audiences can’t help listen. Currently signed to Roc Nation, real name Caswell Senior recently put out a project titled Behind These Scars, spearheaded by lead single “So Brooklyn” featuring Fabolous. 

King Ice caught up with Casanova in his few days in Los Angeles to chat about his jewelry preferences, the most iconic chain in his opinion, and his legacy.

What’s the most expensive piece of jewelry you own?

My watch, $120,000 for a Patek Philippe. 

Did you treat yourself?

Yes, definitely. I don’t think nobody’s going to buy that for me. 

How would you describe your style as it relates to jewelry?

My style is flashy. Flashy and aggressive, that’s about it.

I’m surprised you don’t have any VVS’s on your teeth.

Nahhh, I like my teeth. I think that’s a down South thing. It came from The Hot Boyz, “Bling Bling.” Remember back in the day? I could probably do it, but I don’t like how people be talking. 

Nuh uh, I ain’t with it.

Which record label had the most iconic chain in your opinion?

Roc-A-Fella, definitely. Not Roc Nation, Roc-A-Fella. Because that’s when I was growing up but also... I ain’t going to front, Biggie and Puff did do it. They did do it. They did it. They paved the way for me, then it was Roc-A-Fella. Then it was Death Row, Hot Boyz. So I’d have to go with Bad Boys first. 

What do you want your legacy to be?

I want people to understand that it’s okay to be real. It’s okay to mess up. I just want people to respect me as an artist. A transformed convict. I just want to give people a chance to see they can make it.
