Rockie Fresh has been in the game for a minute, coming up alongside Casey Veggies after moving to Los Angeles from Chicago. To this day, their Fresh Veggies joint mixtape remains a favorite among fans. Since then, he’s signed to Rick Ross’ MMG imprint and even toured with rock band Fall Out Boy.
Fast forward to 2019, he’s unleashed his first official debut studio album titled Destination via Rostrum Records. The 12-track project is spearheaded by single “Must Be” featuring Chris Brown. King Ice caught up with Rockie in Los Angeles to discuss his most expensive jewelry pieces and what he wants his legacy to be.
Most expensive piece of jewelry you own?
Probably my watch or my Rolex, but that was a gift from Rick Ross. He got it for me when I first signed, that was a boss move. Shit, I was just shocked. The reaction to it, the video of it is on Worldstar. They were filming me, I was just like “damn, that’s crazy.” Nicest thing anyone’s ever done for me. My chain’s probably the second most expensive piece. It’s $15K but I talked him down a little bit. Shout out my boy James.
How would you describe your style as it relates to jewelry?
Super minimal. I like it, but I can’t see myself spending millions of dollars on pieces. But you never know, shit. People’s minds change when the bags come in, so...
What hip hop label had the most iconic chain ?
Me being a part of MMG, I got to put that up there. But then also Roc-A-Fella, that shit was super classic. Me and my boy Hustle were talking about the Terror Squad chains, the TS chains were hard. That’s hard, hip-hop be doing it’s thing on the jewelry side. It’s tough.
What do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be that I just motivated people to keep going, despite any issues or any ups and downs. Also really, I just want my daughter to be able to grow up and have a better life. She really the one that’s going to be the one leading my legacy, so I want her to be respected based off my name.
