Fireboy DML is the future of Afrobeats… literally. Boasting 1.5 million followers on Instagram alone, the Nigerian recording artist is pushing his “Afro-Life” movement in all facets of his life — including his fire music. His top 3 influences are Wande Coal, Jon Bellion, and Passenger, even having them framed in the hallway leading to his bedroom.

Having gone viral after the release of his 2019 single “Jealous,” Fireboy has been consistently releasing Afrobeat bangers for his growing fanbase. Most recently, he releases New York City Girl” and “ELI,” leading up to his second album titled APOLLO.

King Ice caught up with Fireboy DML via Instagram Live to discuss the most expensive piece of jewelry he owns, while rocking an iced out diamond tennis necklace around his neck.

What’s the most expensive piece of jewelry you own?

There’s supposed to be 2, but I took it off at the video shoot and haven’t seen it since. It's a diamond tennis necklace. My neck is always empty, that’s why I bought it. I’m not really a jewelry person, but this was necessary.

Why not?

It’s just taste. I’m not judging anyone. I wouldn’t mind a diamond watch, I’ll try that when I have the money?
