On what would have been his 47th birthday, the Notorious B.I.G. lives on in the memories of his fans who honored the legendary rapper today in Brooklyn (and throughout NYC). Officially dubbed, “Notorious B.I.G. Day” or #BiggieDay, Brooklyn President, Eric Adams, declared the holiday a few years ago - and rightfully so. Adams presented a proclamation to Wallace’s daughter, Ty’anna Wallace, who spoke at the declaration. She said that her father loved Brooklyn, and that he would have been proud of the honor.
Still hard to believe that we lost such an iconic Hip Hop star, whose career was just blossoming into so much more, at the young age of 24.
“On his birthday, Brooklyn salutes one of our own, who has never been forgotten as long as his music plays. His energy will remain and continue to inspire people throughout not only the borough of Brooklyn, but Biggie put Brooklyn on the map.” - Eric Adams
If you recall, we dropped an exclusive Notorious B.I.G. x King Ice collection in honor of the Hip Hop legend last year. Designs ranged from a “Biggie Drip” necklace in gold, a Notorious B.I.G. x King Ice “The GOAT” necklace, and even another pendant resembling the late rapper with lab diamonds detailing.
