Cardi B celebrated her first Mother’s Day with a few surprises from hubby, Offset.
After tearing down the stage during her Rolling Loud set in Miami, Cardi was greeted by Offset backstage with a handful of gifts - including a pair of pink and red Birkin bags, and ofcoure, his-and-hers matching Audemars Piguet watches. Completely iced out with diamonds, the couple took photos to show off the bling.
In Cardi B fashion, she quickly took to social media to share her reactions to the gifts.
I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you I love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️ @OffsetYRN Thank you for surprising me with my baby and my gifts ❤️❤️❤️❤️I love you soooo much. pic.twitter.com/z2mg258SqM
Cardi B hosted a poppin’ Fashion Nova party this week at the Hollywood Palladium, celebrating her second collaboration with the online clothing giant. In attendance were industry tastemakers, influencers, and celebrities including Chanel West Coast, Lamor Odom, and Jeremy Meeks. But it was a performance by new standout artist, Lil Nas X that had many talking - aside from when Cardi hosed herself down with water on stage while twerking, of course.
Lil Nas X hit the stage, joining Cardi, as he performed his hit single, “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. Spotted on Nas X, completing his cowboy look, were a couple King Ice pieces: our 15mm Iced G Link Chain, and The Longhorn Bull Necklace.
All eyes were on the Met Gala last night as some of the biggest names in entertainment walked the prestigious event’s red carpet. As you know, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York city hosts this annual Gala that has become the exclusive glamorous affair it has evolved into. Each year, the Gala chooses a theme - for both its cocktail hour and formal dinner. And A-List celebrities come, ready to show off their best outfits. This year’s theme was “Camp” - an aesthetic style that regards something as appealing because of its bad taste, and ironic value.
Let’s delve into some of our favorite looks!
We had to kick this list off with none other than Cardi B, ofcourse.
It’s not a party until Cardi B pulls up.
The larger-than-life Rap star hit the Gala’s red carpet in a Thom Browne gown covered in red feathers that had everyone turning their heads. Last year, Cardi attended the Gala for the first time wearing Jeremy Scott who escorted her down the carpet. This year, Cardi had to attend solo since, well.. her dress took up too much space for a plus one. The custom floor-length gown with a train that was pretty much an entity of its own is at the top of our list.
Next up on our list is Serena Williams.
Only the co-chair of the 2019 Met Gala could pull off this stunning custom neon yellow strong-shouldered Versace gown with matching yellow sneakers from Virgil Abloh. Like icing on a cake, Serena paired her outfit with a diamond watch, emerald green rings and drop earrings by de Grisogono.
Watches are a great accessory. Looking to freeze up your wrist like Serena? Check out our White Gold LX Watch studded with AAA handset stones, plated in white gold.
Naomi Campbell also stirred up some red carpet conversations when she hit the red carpet accompanied by a man whose sole responsibility was to fan her as she walked. But it was her dress that truly stole the show. Campbell stunned in a caped pink feathered gown by Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli. Naomi also managed to ice up her wrist with some diamonds.
Bella Hadid arrived to the Met Gala alone but she really didn’t need anyone else to help her shine. Dressed in a lavish black gown with jeweled cutouts, The Weeknd’s absence wasn’t missed too much. No offense to The Weeknd. His girl showedout with cut-outs that showed off the flesh on her hips, and gloves that were covered in jewels.
Designer, Alexandra Mandelkorn, had gone through fifteen sketches before finalizing the design that would hit the red carpet on singer, Janelle Monae. The Picasso and Dali inspired dress incorporated elements of surrealism. She made sure Monae’s signature black and white aesthetic was still present while creating bold looks with the addition of the blinking eye and ridiculous pile of top hats that she wore on her head.
While Kim Kardashian came to slay the Gala red carpet in her beaded latex dress by Thierry Mugler, husband, Kanye West decided to wear a $40 Dickies jacket paired with his Yeezy desert boots, black chinos and a white tee. While some might question Ye’s inspiration or motives for his outfit, the couplestill managed to break necks.
While we should celebrate our women all year round, the month of March is solely dedicated to women’s history - which originated as early as 1987 when Congress proclaimed March 7th as “Women’s History Week.” What started out as seven days, has since become a month of honoring the impact women have had in our society.
And as you know, here at King Ice, we always make sure the ladies are covered as well.
With our newly released Champion series, it’s important to know that women have been just as dominant - not only in sports, but in entertainment, business, politics and more. So, to the sports champion, or the every day champion, ladies, this one is for you.
If we’re talking music - particularly Hip Hop - there’s no doubt that Cardi B has won a lot of us over. Her rise to stardom was no easy road, but she’s earned it every step of the way. Last year, her debut album, “Invasion of Privacy,” topped the US Billboard 200, went double platinum, and became the first female artist to have all tracks from an album certified gold, or higher. That same album also brought in her first Grammy Award during this year’s ceremony. Isn't it obvious why she's so desirable?
Michelle Obama. Her name alone is prolific. The former First Lady, had her portrait (painted by Amy Sherald) unveiled at the National Portrait Gallery. This was monumental for Amy, as well, because she became the first African-American artist to paint the Smithsonian's official presidential portraits.
Coachella has raised the bar. Last year, the popular music festival had its first Black woman headline - and her name is, Beyonce! Queen Bey bodied a 27-song set for over 100,000 festival goers. Her performance set, alone, became the most watched live-streamed performance, to date, raking in 41 MILLION viewers. There's no question who is the Head Bey In Charge!
If you thought topping four gold medal wins in 2016 was going to be difficult, well, you’re name isn’t Simone Biles. The soon-to-be 22 year old gymnast from Columbus, Ohio, became the first woman to win FIVE all-around titles at the US national championships last Summer. This just might solidify her for G.O.A.T status, as she’s still early in her career. For her championship performance, Biles wore teal - the designated color for sexual-abuse survivors - to signify she stands with the gymnasts who, like herself, were abused.
Naomi Osaka, the half-Japanese, half-Haitian rising star in tennis did something absolutely remarkable in the US Open finals last year - defeat Serena Williams! The tremendous victory earned Osaka the privilege of becoming the first athlete representing Japan to win a Grand Slam Final. For that, we honor her with the 14k White Gold Champion Heritage medallion.
To close this list out, one of the biggest brands in all of planet earth, NIKE, officially declared 2019 the “Year For Women!” For their new video campaign, “Dream Crazier,” Nike teamed up with Serena Williams as she narrated a video that highlighted women who dream big. The inspiring minute-and-a-half video advertisement highlights the accomplishment of women athletes, including Chloe Kim, Ibtihaj Muhammad, and of course, Serena Williams.
“A woman running a marathon was crazy. A woman boxing was crazy. A woman dunking? Crazy. Coaching an NBA team? Crazy. A woman competing in a hijab, changing her sport, landing a Frontside Double Cork 1080, or winning 23 Grand Slams, having a baby and coming back for more? Crazy. Crazy. Crazy. Crazy. And Crazy.
So if they want to call you crazy? Fine. Show them what crazy can do.”
