History: Champions Aren't Born, They're Made

History: Champions Aren't Born, They're Made

A champion is a person who has defeated or surpassed all rivals in a competition, especially in sports. As Black History Month comes to a close, we honor those who have earned the title “champion” in the world of sports. Whether we take it back as early as 1902 when Joe Gans became the first African American boxing lightweight champ, or 1948, when Alice Coachman became the first African American woman to win an Olympic gold medal, or even as recent as 2015 when Wendell Scott became the first African American to be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Champions have been born and made over the decades.

When it comes to the brand, itself, Champion, was at the early forefront of both the NBA and NFL, producing uniforms between the 1980’s and 1990’s. They also designed sportswear for many major colleges and the Olympic basketball team that competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics.

Champions aren’t just born, they’re made - with dedication, talent, perseverance and an indomitable spirit. And the brand holds true to that, as they've withstood the test of time, as fashion trends came and went throughout the years.

Here, at King Ice, we give an ode to all the champions with our Champion Heritage CZ 925 Gold Vermeil Necklace. The Heritage C defines the logo of the proud and the worthy. And is made from .925 Sterling Silver and 14K gold plating, paired with a 1mm, 22” chain.

Also available, is the Heritage Medallion piece that showcases the legendary logo 14K gold plating, surrounded by CZ stones encased in a circular medallion.

Champion athletic wear company recently opened its first U.S. retail store in Los Angeles, CA in the La Brea fashion district. Outside the flagship store were hundreds of loyal supporters of the fashion brand looking to purchase an exclusive assortment of the new Champion collection. While waiting in line, dozens of supporters won custom jewelry from King Ice as well as limited edition releases including pieces from the Live Nation ODD Future collection.

"Thanks to a series of well planned strategic collaborations and the fact that celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid have been adopting the brand's sweatshirts, a new generation of consumers have pulled the hundred-year-old brand out of a slump," according to Cassidy Mantor from Fashion Network.

Champion's Flagship is located at 123 South La Brea Avenue in LA.

New King Ice Champion Jewelry collection expected to be released June 26, 2018.
