Harlem’s own, Dapper Dan, has come a long way from his start in fashion. Now, nearly six decades later, he has become a household name in both Harlem, and fashion - transcending his role as “the tailor of Harlem.” The now, global influencer, gives the people a sneak peak into the journey he has embarked on in the form of a short film. Fellow Harlem native, A$AP Rocky, joins in as well.
Influenced by AT&T’s “212” campaign, the five-minute video chronicles Dapper Dan’s come-up, starting in the 1960’s to the present day, as he narrates the ups and downs of his storied career in fashion. From selling luxury goods out of his trunk to being raided by police when he was accused of copying fashion labels, and more - it’s as real as it gets.
